Sorry I left you hanging there, but blogging wasn’t top on the list once I got home. I’ve been spending time with family, went to Hawaii and then Memphis for the New Year and I’m planning a trip to Nashville next month to visit one of my best friends. I’m waiting to see if the TV show will take off and if not, the plan is to study for the GRE and go to graduate school for public relations/integrated marketing communications. Wish me Luck!

For all of you who faithfully read and followed my journeys, Thank You. This time was harder on me emotionally and mentally. It took me a good 2 weeks to adjust to life at home and I’m still processing it all. My family and friends are awesome and I just had my first real Shreveport outing this weekend when I went to a baby shower and saw a lot of old friends. Other than that, I’m mostly hanging out with my bestie, Amanda, and the family. I’m slowly easing into the social scene.

Hope you all have a great and joyous 2010. God Bless you and our troops.

Friday was busy. After going to visit Amanda’s classroom and getting drenched on the way to the car, picking up Drew and Tyler from school with the other Amanda, going with Cade to the eye doctor, then going back to Amanda’s (Bain) house, we still had to go shopping. We had plans to go to Tokyo Friday night for Autumn’s surprise birthday dinner. Autumn’s husband, Andy, contacted all her friends about a week before letting everyone know to keep it on the down low and show up at 6:30. It was now 4:20 and our hair was still wet from the downpour we experienced earlier.
The group at Tokyo

Amanda wanted something new, so by the time we got to the mall we had about 45 minutes to find something and get back to my apartment to freshen up. We started at Dillard’s. They’re always having the 50-75% off sales and since Amanda is so petite, we decided to divide and conquer the juniors’ department. We were yelling at each other across the floor, “Do you like this one?” “This one may be cute once you put it on…” “Who would wear this…seriously?”
We stepped in the dressing room with about 5 prospects. Dress #1 was a slim little black dress. It almost looked like a sheer shirt tucked into a high waisted silk skirt, very cute. If you don’t know Amanda Bain, you don’t know how blessed she is… BLESSED for such a little frame. She slipped her arms through the dress, but as she tried to pull it over her head and along her torso, it hit a roadblock. So, there stands Amanda, arms over her head, her head hidden behind silky black fabric, and her stomach down exposed except for her stylish panties of course. Muffled behind the fabric, she says “I think I’m going to need some help.” Being the good friend I am, I rush over to help. After all, we’re not modest around each other… we took baths together when we were little and skinny dipped past the appropriate age. It took both hands and a good bit of my strength to pull the dress over her blessed roadblock and put it in it’s correct place, only to decide that we weren’t crazy about the dress. Getting the dress on wasn’t half the battle; It was getting it off that caused us grief. Amanda decided it was best not to help…arms up! It was all me.. if that dress was coming off, I was going to have to pull together all my strength and pull like I’ve never pulled before. I grabbed the bottom of the dress and folded it up, pulling as I went. When we got to the blessed roadblock, we got stuck…again. If I pulled any harder, I was pulling her bra with me. “Amanda,” I said, “we’re about to get personal.” With one hand, I held her bra in place and with the other, I pulled pulled pulled. One rip sound and a snag later, the dress was sliding up her arms as easy as could be. She hurriedly tried on the other contenders, but nothing work… even the $7 dress (figures)!! We ran to Banana Republic (nothing good on sale), Charlotte Russe (I hate that store… we didn’t have time to dig), and New York & Company (a whole bunch of blah nothing).
We ran home with just enough time to wash our hair, redo make-up and get dressed. Amanda threw on her clothes she brought for back-up, and was so amazed to realize she actually like what she brought with her. (Are you kidding me?… after all that?.. oh well, we got a good story)
We got to Tokyo only a few minutes late, a great accomplishment for the two of us. Autumn was totally shocked and Amanda and her outfit that she didn’t have to buy flirted with a boy.
